Bike and Bible

Next ride scheduled for January 28th at 8 AM

All:

The DCC Men's Group Bible and Bike Ride for January 2012 is scheduled for the 28th. We will meet at the Church at 8am where we will have our devotional (led by Bruce Cummings) and then off for a bike ride and fellowship (on a route planned by David Taylor). So plan to have a great time with God and your DCC brothers.

May God Bless you!

Ray.

On the road again… The DCC Men’s Bike and Bible group traveled to Vacaville for their October ride. On this trip the riders included: Stan Bean, Bruce Cummings, Ray Erck, Tom Farver, Elton Meneses, and Wayne Rossmiller.

The trailhead began at Patwin Park (at the corner of leisure Town Road and Elmira Road), where it headed west. The route followed a paved trail next to a creek that meanders in-between the backyards of several neighborhoods. The first stop was at a memorial adjacent to the ball diamonds (Nut Tree Road and Marshall Road), where we spent time worshiping our Savior, Jesus Christ, and reading from Jude and Romans. We also discussed what the Bible tells us about: end of time predictions!

Continuing west the group crossed over Nut Tree Road, the Putah South Canal, Tulare Drive, Peabody Road, and Alamo Road arriving at the Twin Oaks Community Center. This is where we took time to refresh ourselves (at the McDonald’s) who provided us with an assortment of unhealthy snacks and diet drinks so we would have the strength to head back.

The return trip was uneventful, and being later in the day we encountered a few other riders and runners; and once back at Patwin Park we noted that we had traveled 10 miles. Reflecting on the ride… we enjoyed a leisurely pace, many beautiful trees, native plants, and small game; it was (again) a wonderful day with my brothers in Christ.

Men’s Bike and Bible outings are schedule for the 4th Saturday of each month; the November excursion will be on the 26th. Please note: This is NOT a race; it is more of a cruise and deliberately slow, so everyone can enjoy the trip. Check the DCC website for details or call the Men’s Ministry Director, Jim Auburt.
